The Forward Focus campaign has been created by the Maine Optometric Board to help raise dedicated funds strictly for our fight to pass legislation around modernizing optometry. While MOA-PAC (Political Action Committee) has been instrumental in building grassroots relationships through direct candidate campaign contributions, we will incur expenses that are beyond MOA Dues, and other revenue.

Examples of the additional legislative expenses:

• Hiring additional lobbyists, and current lobbyist fees
• Expenses associated with expert testimony at legislative hearings
• Hosting regional events around the state with legislators and ODs, to educate and demonstrate the skill set of today’s optometrists.
• Hosting legislative events as needed
• Public relations campaign to combat heinous false accusations by the opposition

FUNDRAISING GOAL for FORWARD FOCUS= $250,000.

Every Full-Time practicing optometrist in Maine is expected to give at the ADVOCATE or LEADER level or above.

Retired and part-time practicing optometrists, students, and new graduates are expected to give at the Supporter or Advocate level or above.
