This new initiative is to move Optometry forward in Maine. Our objective is to modernize the practice of optometry, improve access to care, and promote professional development, and ultimately enhance the well-being of Maine residents.

We've been talking a lot about updating Maine's scope of practice, and now it's time to act. We aim to bring Maine up to the standards of 12 other states and show that Maine is serious about providing high-quality and timely care for our patients.

Introducing Forward Focus – our new initiative to move optometry forward in Maine. Our objective is to modernize the practice of optometry, improve access to care, promote professional development, and ultimately enhance the well-being of Maine residents.

But we can't do it alone. We need every member to get involved! That's why we've kicked off Forward Focus to raise the funds necessary for legislative efforts and focus on membership involvement. This is our chance to make a real difference and ensure a better future for everyone.

So, whether you're a full-time practitioner, a retiree, a part-time optometrist, a student, or a new graduate, we need your support. Every contribution counts! It's time to invest in your future.

And it doesn't stop there – we also need your commitment to reach out to your local legislators. If you know someone in a position of influence, we want to hear from you. Do you know someone serving as a Maine State Legislator? It could be your neighbor, friend, soccer coach, a child’s playmate parent, or current patient. Let's work together to make 2025 Maine's year for optometry.
